SAGHS Speaker Series!
May 7 – "From Nobility to Texas Soil: Unveiling Genealogical Treasures in the Texas GLO Collection" presented in-person and virtually by Kevin Klaus of the GLO
 Join us for a captivating exploration of the Texas General Land Office Collection, a treasure trove for genealogists seeking to unearth ancestral stories. This presentation delves into the rich records housed within the collection, offering an overview of its invaluable resources for tracing familial roots. Highlighting the journey of an English nobleman turned Texan pioneer, we'll delve into the remarkable case study of the Earl of Aylesford in Howard County. Discover how this aristocratic figure traded his title for a life of ranching and entrepreneurship in the vast landscapes of 1880s West Texas.
The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. Join us in person about 6:45 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 Lutheran Way, San Angelo, Texas. Early arrival allows you to get settled and visit with others before the meeting starts. Visitors are welcome! For more information, contact info@saghs-tx.org.

 Make plans now to support SAGHS and many other worthy charities on May 7 at San Angelo Gives, an online fundraising event powered by the San Angelo Area Foundation that unites the Concho Valley around important causes. Each year, SAGHS raises over $2,000 through this event, which is even more critical after the challenges of the past three years. SAGHS officers set a challenge goal of at least $2,500 and 20 donations; all proceeds go to the Speakers Fund!
Whether you are a member or not, this is a great way to support SAGHS and the programs we bring to genealogists across the U.S. and beyond. Even $10 will help us reach our goal and continue providing the quality programs SAGHS members and friends have come to expect!

SAGHS loves our members, and to show our appreciation, we're holding a membership drive and drawing. All whose membership is current on July 5 will be eligible for the Membership Drive Drawing! If you are not a member or your membership lapses before then, please join or renew your membership. Drawing winners can choose one of the following prizes:
- 3 month membership to American Ancestors, with access to early American records and more

- $50 credit toward a purchase any of SAGHS's surplus books.

Research Afternoon - May
Join us at the West Texas Collection to research your family history with the help of SAGHS volunteers. Bring your questions or just spend an afternoon with us sharing your passion for genealogy sleuthing and exploring the resources available to West Texas Genealogists!

Wanted: Concho Valley Pioneers
 SAGHS is building a file of Concho Valley pioneers, and we want to include your pioneer ancestor! Jan Shannon, our Pioneer Certificate Manager, will help with your certificate application.
Along with your receiving your Pioneer Certificate, your Concho Valley pioneer and lineage will be included in a future issue of our quarterly journal, Stalkin Kin in Old West Texas!
